The International Society of Female Professionals Recognizes VIP Member, Dr. Roya Karbakhsh

Dr. Roya Karbakhsh is an Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. She attended Isfahan Medical University, and graduated from New York Medical College psychiatry residency program at Saint Vincent’s Hospital, NY.

It was during her studies that she found she loved children, and wanted to make an impact im a world filled with psychosocial stressors, specifically during the developmental stages. She then attended New York University’s Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship, where she gained valuable experience as an instructor for residents and medical students. Dr. Karbakhs completed a research psychopharmacology fellowship focusing on child adolescent psycho pharmacology research at Mount Sinai with Dr. Jeffery Newcorn. Her main concentration included childhood ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD.

Dr. Karbakhsh specializes in Psychotropic medication management, family and couple therapy, psycho-dynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy CBT, mindfulness based stress reduction skills, and dialectic behavioral therapy DBT. She also uses coherence breathing, meditation, and relaxation techniques to further her patients’ receptivity to regain inner strength in dealing with their treatment and recovery.

In her spare time, she enjoys travel, reading, and serving her community.
