The International Society of Female Professionals Recognizes Rachel Prior-Tsang

Rachel Prior-Tsang is a founding member of the band Likewise, a popular Canadian duo based out of Vancouver. Offering sounds deeply rooted in folk, rock, gospel, soul and Canadiana, their music holds a common thread of introspection, hope and transcendence, and explores the exquisite beauty of our collective experience. The band harkens to greats such as Joni Mitchell, Dave Matthews, Birds of Chicago and Half Moon Run, and offers at once a thread of hope and optimism intricately woven in haunting complexity.

Rachel and bandmate Christ Fowles have played a variety of venues across Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast, Kamloops, and the Naramata Valley, including the Blessed Coast Festival in Squamish. As a songwriter, vocalist and guitarist, Rachel’s songwriting stems from her love of poetry, her fiery guitar playing, and her desire to sing the dream. A classically trained musician, she gained national notice when she established her first band at the age of 22 and went on to release CBC Radio top-ten songs.

With self-described “Alaskan roots and Canadian wings,” Rachel holds a Bachelor of Education in Secondary English Language Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with Honours from the University of British Columbia. She is committed to professional growth and development, and is a trained Shamanic Practitioner by the Institute of Shamanic Medicine as well as a trained teacher in drama and English. In addition to her music career, Rachel teaches on-call for the Vancouver School Board.

Passionate about her work, Rachel credits her success to focus, drive and perseverance.
