The International Society of Female Professionals Recognizes Joy Langley

Joy Langley is Senior Principal of The Clearing, Inc., a management consultancy dedicated to helping business and government leaders tackle big challenges, using people-centric leadership strategies. Offering an adaptable approach to problem-solving, Joy and her colleagues craft custom tailored solutions to each client’s specific opportunities and challenges, implementing theory with a focus on practice and real-world strategy.

Additionally, Joy is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Undaunted Strategies, LLC, a firm that offers consulting services specializing in crisis, campaign and change management. A true advocate for her clients, she creates and executes the strategic moves to help clients tell their story, overcome challenges, and progress in their journey.

Having built her reputation on cultivating transformation that sticks, Joy recognizes that meaningful change is the result of great relationships — between consultants and the clients, customers, and constituencies they serve. Because of this, people are at the core of everything she does.

Joy earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Ithaca College and went on to complete a master’s degree in political Management from The George Washington University. She holds two MBAs, one from Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business and the other from Cornell University’s Johnson School of Management. She has also completed Seth Godin’s altMBA program and is a LUMA certified Human Centered Design leader. A servant leader, Joy is a 2017 graduate of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Leadership Tomorrow Program and a mentor for GWU’s Native American Political Leadership Program.

Joy understands that not every path to a positive outcome is straight; that one-size-fits-all solutions don’t always fit and that cutting-edge theory has to work in practice to obtain change-based strategic objectives.

Based in Washington, DC, Joy credits her success to being mission-driven, multi-faceted and goal-oriented. She is the recipient of numerous accolades and honors, including the Thurgood Marshall College Fund President’s Award for Excellence, recognition as a Finalist in the National Security Innovation Network’s Hackathon, and leading efforts in Washington DC as a Founders Live City Lead. When she isn’t solving big problems, creating compelling content, or connecting with clients, Joy finds personal fulfillment in art, sport, travel, and learning – She is Founder and Former Chair of Generation O at the Washington National Opera, a soccer player, coach, and referee, and is planning her next global adventure.
