Marcelo Nishikawa is the Director of Product Development at Bayer Crop Science, the third largest innovative agricultural input company in the world. With over seventeen years of experience, Marcelo is best known for his expertise in agriculture and product development. As the Director of Product Development, Marcelo is in charge of leading product development and positioning for phase three and phase four chemical products such as insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, seed treatment and biologics.

After earning a Master’s degree in Agronomy from Paulista State University, Marcelo went on to receive a Postdoctoral degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the Luiz de Queroiz School of Agriculture. Prior to joining Bayer Science Crop, he served as the Compliance and Regulated Pipeline Manager of Monsanto and before that, the South America Testing Operations Lead.

He is very passionate about his work and he is the third generation in his family to choose agriculture as a lifelong career. From 1990 to 2015, Marcelo has had over 50 journal publications and in 1997, he wrote and published a book on agriculture. In addition, he was awarded the Brazilian Young Scientist Award in 1992. Marcelo credits his success to his ability to always keep an open mind.

In the coming years, Marcelo would like to remain up to date on the latest developments within the agriculture industry. He considers the highlight of his career to be the young researchers he has mentored, motivated, and helped grow to be successful. He is looking forward to networking and connecting with fellow members of the International Society of Business Leaders.
